Dear Spouses,
One of the joys of traveling around the conference is getting to meet so many of you in the churches you and your spouse are serving. One of the frustrations is how many of you I have yet to meet. I am sure others feel the same. We keep looking for opportunities where we can get to know one another better. This year at conference on Saturday, June 2 the Cabinet Spouses are providing an opportunity for us to visit in rooms 116A and B at Clearbranch UMC. Many of you have even baked cookies for us to share. Please stop by anytime from 9-5 that day and greet and meet whoever may be in the room at the time. I will be in and out as will others so feel free to stop by as often as you like. We are seeing the necessity of providing a variety of occasions throughout the year. The Fall Retreat at Sumatanga will be October 12 and 13 so plan now to come. We added this year a Spring luncheon which was quite successful and when we get a date for that we will let you know. We all have much to learn and enjoy from each other. I have read that loneliness among clergy spouses continues to be a predominate concern so I think it is even more important that we reach out to each other. One clergy spouse in another conference wrote:

"Oh how I wish I had a real friend among you to share all these jumbled feelings and thoughts with. Someone to laugh and cry with. Someone who might understand that I can't and don't want to be perfect--someone who can need me as a friend. Members are afraid to get too close."

Who knows, maybe you or I can be that real friend to someone we have yet to meet .
Hope to see you Saturday if not before.
Patsy Willimon
