[Spouses] Thank You

Dear Clergy Spouses,
I want to take a moment and tell each of you how very much I enjoyed seeing
you at the 2007 Clergy Spouse Retreat.  Each one of you took the time to
show signs and speak words of kindness and appreciation for the planning of
this event.  I am humbled by your generosity and love.  This weekend I felt
more  “Bound By Grace” to each one of you than I could have imagined was
possible.
I appreciated and was very moved by the words and emotion of Sherry Harris.
I believe she was meant to be with us.  Nothing; however, could have moved
me more that the shared Bound By Grace Moments from our own clergy family of
spouses.  For me, not all of these moments were shared in front of the
group.  Some were words spoken in a hug, a shared meal, or a small group.
Each will always be a precious moment for me and I thank you.
On behalf of the entire Retreat Committee, I want to thank you for coming to
and participating in the Retreat.  The Committee has worked very hard and
extended the arm of involvement out to many of you.  It was a great joy to
see just how many people were involved in making this great Retreat
successful.  Thanks to each of you I have had a wonderful year as Convener
for the Retreat Committee.  I know that Kathy Horn (Convener 2008) will have
a year full of wonder and joys as well.
I also want to thank the District Superintendent’s spouses: Mary, Janice,
Pat, Jennie, Wynette, Tracy, and Von (you go girl) as well as our Bishop’s
wife Patsy Willimon for their assistance and encouragement to all of us this
last year, but especially to me.  Their support, ideas, and willingness to
be actively engaged helped to make this Retreat even more extraordinary.
The bags that they prepared for each of us were so precious.  Their
individuality and personal touches to these gifts expressed their
appreciation and understanding of the roles we have in our churches and
homes.  Thank you so much!
A huge thank you goes to Dannette Clifton, Sandy O’Kelly, Cokesbury and
especially to Marcia Steedman, our Treasurer and Registrar.  Each of these
persons provided vital assistance to the success of our Retreat.
As you go about your very busy lives this next year please remember Kathy’s
challenge to each of us:  select a fellow spouse and befriend them,
encourage them, mentor them and show them the way to our Retreat next year!
I will see you there!
